Heads Up: Change in "Modified by" field Post from Zoho Support: Hello, One thing we heard repeatedly from our customers was that we probably needed to tweak how users manage their records in Zoho CRM. Specifically, people wanted an easy way to sort records based on how recently they had been modified. We had the "Modified by" field, but the way it was set up made sorting records harder than it needed to be. With that feedback, we made some important updates to how we track modifications, which we think will make managing your records a whole lot easier. Let's see how... 1. Introducing the new "Last Modified by" field In the old system, the "Modified by" field was updated whenever a record was changed OR created. This caused a lot of confusion when someone wanted to review only those records that had been modified. To fix this, we've added the "Last Modified by" field which captures each record's modified time and modified by information, but excludes the record's creation time. When a record is created, the "Last Modified by" field is left blank. Then, when the record is changed for the first time, the timestamp on the record is updated automatically. 2. "Created/Modified by" field However, not wanting to force happy users to change how they currently sort their records, we've retained the old field behavior, but given it a new, clearer name: "Created/Modified by", which captures both created/modified time. (NOTE: This change will not affect API calls or data syncing.) How will this impact your work? Suppose you want to create a list of all the contacts that were modified yesterday. With the old system, you would filter your records with two criteria: "Modified Time IS yesterday" AND "Created Time IS NOT yesterday". With the new system, all you would have to do is filter using the criteria "Last Modified by IS yesterday". Thanks The Zoho CRM Team |
